Why do I get several demo license expiry warnings?

handpoint solutions can be made up of a number of individual handpoint applications – mPOS and Stock Manager are controlled by the handpoint ‘Device License’ element – headstart is controlled by the hHAL license element – payments is controlled by the handpoint payments license element – The evaluation license period for each of these elements varies and will show an error message at a different time.

How do I install handpoint mobile software?

handpoint solutions are commonly made up of a number of individual applications – 1. The mobile application is usually installed using a CAB file install procedure – The CAB file is copied to the device and run. This installs all the necessary files and registry settings. The individual payment configuration files are copied to the device after installation is complete. The specific process however, varies from device to device due to the secure nature of some of these devices. – 2. Desktop Server is installed using an install .exe file and is configured using the GUI from the shortcut provided – 3. The Interlink server is installed using an install .exe file and then individually configured via a number of text files.

What is headstart?

handpoint headstart is an application which, once installed on a device enables a custom 3rd party application to be able to control the device’s peripherals (scanner, WiFi, Bluetooth, etc) and take EFT payments by providing an easy to access API for handpoint payments (see ‘what is handpoint payments’).

Why does my demo keep asking for a passphrase?

handpoint applications are commonly licensed using a passphrase – When entered, this passphrase is checked ‘online’ against handpoint’s licensing server and details of the specific device are recorded – it is possible to license a handpoint application ‘offline’ and for this please contact support@handpoint.com.

What do I need to get started with mobile payments?

The principle elements necessary to be able to take mobile payments are :- . The mobile application you want to run . handpoint headstart . handpoint payments . A merchant account with an Acquiring bank – This will generate a Merchant ID (MID) . An accreditation with the Acquiring bank – This may not be necessary is you use a handpoint ‘Type’ approved device . Terminal ID (TID)’s allocating within the handpoint Bureau.

How do I license my handpoint mobile application?

handpoint applications are licensed using a passphrase – Ensure the device can access the interenet, either via GPRS/WiFi or through the device cradle and via a PC/Server. Run the ActivateDevice.exe application within the handpoint folder on the device and enter the passphrase in the field provided – This can be obtained by contacting support@handpoint.com. The display will indicate if when the licensing is complete. The Customer ID and Device Serial fields will be filled out once the device has succesfully activated.

How do I log a problem with my handpoint software?

In the first instance send an e-mail to support@handpoint.com giving as much detail about the problem as possible – Include information relating to the type of handpoint application, the version of retail 5 if known and include details of the device type, processor, Operating System, RAM and display resolution if display related – Also indicate if the problem is affecting one or more devices.

How do I support my handpoint applications when they're deployed in the field?

handpoint don’t provide a device management application as there are numerous suppliers of software that perform this function and handpoint suggest contacting one to seek advice on how best to support your particular devices within your specific environment.

Does handpoint supply mobile devices?

No – handpoint is a software solutions provider and have always endevoured to be hardware agnostic and whilst we work closley with most of the major device manufacturers we do not supply the actual hardware.

Do I have to use the handpoint mobile POS (mPOS) application if I'm using handpoint payments?

No – handpoint payments and handpoint mPOS are separate applications – handpoint payments can be integrated with any third party application allowing for a quick and easy way to add EFT payments.

What are handpoint's main products ?

As well as mobile payments applications, handpoint supplies Point of Sale software for :- a) integration on customer side to other systems like webpages, salesystems etc. : Webservice or Tpos Client (Windows based or Java based) and b) A full feature PC software to install on customer side ready to use.
