Handpoint won The Channel Awards

Handpoint won the Channel Awards 2012 for Handpoint Headstart our Mobile Chip&PIN payment solution at the Merchant Payment Ecosystem 2012 Conference that took place in Berlin, Germany.

The Channel Awards goes to the acquirer, the processor, the network services provider, the payment services provider, the payment scheme, the MNO or the solution provider, who was able to offer innovative or the most complete offering regarding card, mobile or online acceptance in different channels.

“The Jury appreciated the Handpoint mCommerce solution for small merchants because it combines new technologies such as smartphone and tablet with a secure PIN entry devices connecting with the mobile phone through bluetooth technology”, says Leon Dhaene, Chairman of the Guiding Hand Awards. „The additional innovative part in this solution is the European response to Square… ”, Leon adds.

The Handpoint Headstart solution is the world’s first Chip&PIN payment solution for smartphones and tablets and allows small merchants as well as big retailers to leverage mobile devices as card acceptance devices in a secure way. Handpoint thereby follows the footsteps of Square and iZettle but with a fully compliant Chip&PIN solution and a white labelling strategy, enabling acquiring banks and Mobile Network Operators to go themselves after the market under their own brand name.

Handpoint selected to debut its Chip&PIN mobile payment solution at FinovateEurope. Our CEO David Gudjonsson and CFO Thordur H. Thorarinsson, Handpoint founders, have been selected to speak at FinovateEurope 2012, taking place on February 7th in London. Handpoint will be among 38 companies demonstrating the newest financial and banking technology innovations at the conference.
